Hi complete newbie here. Although I'm fairly certain that this 2006 $1 bill isn't rare, I am a bit curious if I should keep it or buy myself a soda from the vending machine. I don't know much about currency errors but it seems to have a slight miscut and full offset misprint. It is very crisp with the exception of small hole from a staple on the top right corner. If anything I have a cool story to tell friends. I was the safety and security manager for a water park on Guam when a cashier called me because he believed he was given a counterfeit. After using the counterfeit detector pen and UV light I was stumped. So I took out a dollar from my pocket and offered the customer to exchange. After doing some research I came across your site.

It is a print error definitely, bills aren't my thing, Coinfrog and SteveinTampa are the gurus. It does have a specific name, happens in the process. Is worth a few bucks to an error collector. Reversed image and NO serial No's yet, hmmm, neat. Maybe I need to branch off into currency errors!

 Definitely don't spend it, that's all I know. I can't remember what it's called.

Thanks guys. I'll probably hold on to it for a while. Hey who knows, I might even start a new hobby. I have been reading up on this forum and now I find myself looking at serial numbers, stars, and other things. lol

Any word on approximate value? I know it is subjective depending on a bunch of variables but talking to you guys is more trustworthy than my research

Welcome to CCF !!
Cool error. Wheat nailed it, front to back offset error. Throw it in a currency sleeve.
What's going on with the upper left back corner....is it a tear or paper pull?

I think those are staple holes in the corner, which unfortunately will definitely drop the value of this error note. Still a really awesome find in the wild! Congrats!

Yes unfortunately as stated in the original post, there is a small staple hole on the top right-hand corner if you're looking at it from the front.

showdown671 That error happens occasionally during printing at the Treasury. It's more common on the back because the back's are not inspected as vigorously as the fronts. You might find "error collecting" quite enjoyable as a hobby- also, can be quite expensive if you like unusual errors. The one you have here is fairly common for errors. Despite the ebay citations listed, I would put the value at under $50 and even less due to the corner hole. Still, it's a great circulation find!
