Counterfeit/Fake £2 Coins Found In Change

johnjrambo New Member United Kingdom 15 Posts	Posted 04/14/2018 2:04 pm Hello all, came across these two coins in my change recently, and was instantly drawn to the queens head on both coins, then noticed orientation on each coin as in photos, the weights for each are 11.8g and 12g, definitely fakes, any info from anyone, sorry the photos aren't better Report this Post to the Staff

Sap Moderator Australia 16857 Posts	Posted 04/15/2018 9:09 pm It costs them a few pence per coin to make the fakes from cheap alloys in China. Perhaps a few pence more to import them in bulk. That still leaves them plenty of profit from a fake £2 coin. British £2 coins are one of the most valuable circulating coins in the world at the moment; that's certainly worth counterfeiting. Remember, a fake doesn't have to fool everybody, all the time. It only needs to fool one person, once, and it's mission accomplished for the counterfeiters.
