I shared this in the "recent buys" topic, but I figured I'd post here as well.

I'm pretty happy with this one.

Very nice first DP9! I predict it will not be your last. (These can be very habit forming)

The Haxby # for this one is PC59-742 (Obverse 74 + Reverse P12a).

Thanks Phil, let's put it this way: I'm building a Large Cent collection in a 2x2 binder. I put my 1858, a 1859/8 and a 1859 on a page, and then skipped a page before 1876

Yes, I had the same Haxby # identifed.

KHatt
what grades are you shooting for as the lower grades are many in some 1859 varieties and few in others its a very interesting variety to collect almost a complete hobby by itself you might need a couple empty pages for your 2x2's.

Happy hunting what ever way you decide to collect 1859's and other Canadian large cents its a great denomination to collect with lots of varieties the thrill of finding them is rewarding and still affordable.

ya thats how I started now my book is 28 pages( starting my 4th page of just 1858's) not to mention the coin tubes and bags full of large cents(common vickies) lol it does get addicting :) I plan on switching to the 1 1/2 x 1 1/2's soon as okie suggested
nice coin by the way

So far I just want all the listed varieties, but I've been just buying any 1859 at a reasonable price I can find since I've been enjoying using the haxby website to identify dies. It's like a little riddle to solve.

I found a Repunched 5 #2 as a regular 1859 and I like the treasure hunt aspect of it.

P.S. Gidjit - If you ever decide to sell, let me know before you flood the market ...
