Weird St. George Medal (Military Charm)

Have what appears to be a medal - feels quite heavy like lead? - with St. George slaying the dragon on one side surrounded by the latin words 'S. Georgius eqvitum patronus' and on the other a weird looking bust with sabre to left side of head. Anyone recognise this?

I've seen "sailor's charms" with the same St. George slaying dragon motif and Latin inscription (meaning "Saint George, protector of Knights), only with a ship on the obverse. There's one that's just been recently posted here, and it's still sitting with this group of coins here in ID Required.

I can only assume this piece is similar. Or maybe this one's for soldiers rather than sailors.
