Hello. I have a 1944 Wheat cent, looking pretty rough. Does this coin just have alot of wear or is it an error of some sort?

If you're looking at the inverted profile on the reverse, that occurs on coins struck from very worn die and is known as Progressive Indirect Die Transfer, or "ghosting." Here is the error-ref.com page.

Hmm, it seems that that site is currently down. If the link doesn't work soon, try searching either of those terms.

On the obverse of your coin is the area from the lower part of his shoulder going north east above the date raised? It's hard to say from the pics but it almost looks like a lamination issue. As far as the reverse, I'd have to agree with Numisma.
