Hello all,
I'm interested in collecting one of these pieces, and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on this coin listed on ebay. I don't see any particular problems with it regarding authenticity. Does anyone disagree? I appreciate any input

I don't have any specific knowledge about these but two comments:

1. What is it doing in Poland?

2. These used to be very rare, but recently there are an awful lot of them around. No hoard has been reported, so where are they all coming from?

Personally I wouldn't touch these on ebay, and I would even be suspicious of a coin dealer with one unless he has been handling these for years.

Thanks for the input! I don't worry so much about the first concern.. coins can easily move around the globe. I do understand your second point, that's what's definitely holding me up. I'm pretty familiar with Charles I pieces, but not with these siege coins... I'm going to have to do quite a bit of homework. Great pieces!

The seller's attitude ("If for any reason you feel like you may be unhappy with buying this coin or feel like you might complain after receiving it please refrain from bidding.") and the dodgy look of the shilling he's selling make me doubt its authenticity.

Unless a Seige piece has good traceable provenance I would avoid.
Remember these were knocked up with a pair of snips and IMO the easiest coin to counterfeit.
The nr of these turning up today is totally wrong.

To what does the seller attribute the various forms of damage to the reverse? Immersion, heat or woodworm?
