So after some research I can see the difference between the small date and large date. I would like your opinions on the coins ratings and if you can see any DDO. I'm still new to this. any opinions about ratings and possible value. Coin 1 1982 SM DT Coin 2 zinc LG DT coin 3 1982-P LG DT coin 4 1982-D LG DT

Is the 1982 D small date a copper coin? How much does it weigh?

Nothing of value here but you did get the LG/SM dates correct.

All of these are worth face value, but you do have awesome images. It's good that you know the differences between Small Dates and Large Dates.

Quote: Is the 1982 D copper worth more ? Yes, but only the Small Date Copper cent. It's extremely rare as one has been only discovered. Your chances of finding one are super slim, but I would still keep your eye out for them though.

May of us "old timers" question the validity of the "one" found last year as a major production run of "many more out there". This was more than likely a fluke, a copper planchet on the floor was tossed into the hopper, or similar. Instances of wrong planchet strikes usually have a mint employee's hand in it whether intentional of accidental.

Also, you can easily see that the SD-D is zinc, since there is zinc coming out from under the mintmark (which may eventually rot off completely).

It's probably a good and reasonable hypothesize on what happened. I'm still looking at mine. If there was only two blank planchets tossed into the hopper, I want to be the person to find the other one.
