26.5 gr., 38.8 mm. Very soft strike for the date (although you can make out the 89 under a light at the right angle) and the PUBLICA M (although they are all visible under light). The discoloration over the eagle's head is actually some red and blue toning. The contrast between the left and right plants framing the cactus is also striking.

What would cause such a weak strike for a Durango peso in the 1890s?

Even in this later era of standardized dies provided by Mexico City, branch mints like Durango continued to be essentially run for profit - thus equipment like presses and even the dies, though the latter seem to be the least of the costs involved, were often still used far beyond their reasonable life spans.
