But I can't find no ware around the coin..signs of its original color

Yes weird look for sure. Most likely due to environmental exposure--maybe it was buried at some point in the last 17 years.

Many times a coin looks similar to yours when it has been found with a metal detector.
Just as others have said, environmental damage.
