He also issued a series of orange plastic "Sacagawea" dollars.

From smalldollars.com
"Renowned paper money artist J.S.G. Boggs has created his version of the Sacagawea dollar. Molded in orange plastic, his set consist of 6 "coins". Each "coin" features a different date/mint mark combination. "1984 CH", "FUN 1999 B", "FUN 2000 J", "2000 M21", "FUN 2000 G", and "FUN 2001 S". A total of 100,000 Boggs' Sacagawea dollars were made."

He died pretty young, age 62 (maybe drugs). How he managed to avoid a counterfeiting conviction is a story in itself. I briefed some of these links but couldn't get a good portfolio of his work. Do you have pics to post, ikeyPikey?

I think that it is okay to load the CCF servers with custom images not available elsewhere, eg, photos of our little treasures.

Freely-available images one click away, not so much.

If there were a particularly telling or informative image that was hard to find, I'd make make the exception that proved the rule, but I cannot imagine what that would be.

.
My local public library had a copy of Boggs: A Comedy of Values, by Lawrence Weschler, 1999.

Mr Weschler writes about art; pretty interesting stuff.

Maybe not? I'm 61 and the paper is full of obituaries of people younger than me who never abused drugs. Maybe it was diabetes? Or a car crash?

Do you have some insider information?

"Moreover, counterfeiters have apparently taken to forging Boggs notes, and a collector in Chicago has even started to specialize in these forgeries -- which...has made Boggs wonder whether he can get in on the action, by doing some of the forgeries himself."

From this article in The Atlantic:

Back in 2001, Boggs got permission from the German Senate for his "Making Money" exhibit in Berlin:

(Copy and paste the URL if you have trouble getting it to work.)

This is his improvised transaction with the Berlin police:
