I hope this hasn't been discussed before, but I am working on a BU/AU Jefferson nickel Dansco Album. I have a question regarding 1950's and 1960's Jefferson nickel proofs. Why were they not included in the album? I have a few from the earlier years that are obviously proofs. What do you think? Should I put a 1956 or 1964 proof in the slot, or put in a BU business strike? I guess I would like to know if it is personal preference or if there is some unwritten rule?

The album you have is probably for all date and mint marks and proof only issues like the 1971 S, 1972 S, 1973 S, 1974 S, 1975 S etc. Since there is for example, a 1969 S unc and the proof is also a 1969 S, they have not included those, and the hole is filled.
You can get a blank Dansco page for nickels and fill in the other proofs and label them under the window or just on top of the page as "Earlier Proofs".

I'm pretty sure there's no place for the SMS coins either (1965-1967) or the Matte finish of 1994 & 1997. Adding a page seems like a good idea to me!
Rest in Peace

That's what I did with the Whitman album as well, Page at the end for all not in the order. Put SMS in the order of proofs, interesting contrast, oughta try it! Also good place for varieties like the Black Beauties, Mattes and Nice error coins ( DDO / DDR/RPM and cracks, clips etc) Showcase it all why not?

The Dansco albums say they include proof-only issues. That means they include holes for date-mint combinations that come only in proof. With that being said, there is only one hole for when there is a proof and business strike available from the same mint in the same year. In this case you have to make a choice or add a blank page to accommodate both.

Thanks for the Feedback! TNG and Crazyb0, I like your ideas about the last page. Makes sense to me and it allows you to showcase what you have instead of sticking them in a drawer. Thanks again, and Craz....I hope that last digit is a 0....if not I will get it right next time.
