Found this issue on 2007 P LMC today and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on what this is caused by. Is it just a couple die gouges or that happened to affect the edge of the die or is it something completely different? I couldn't really find an example like this on the collar. It affects the edge of the coin in two different areas to the W and SW of Liberty. They kind of look like saw teeth and are the same height as the other devices on the coin. The edge of the coin in these areas don't look any different the rest of the coin edge. Any help is much appreciated

Incomplete plating attachment. Pushing a little on the fattest area with a tooth pick will determine if that is the case.

If the little tooth moves of collapses, it's a plating issue.

And if they don't collapse it's probably the result of die damage or something nicked the edge of the die face.

I am going to say that these are Die Dents caused by die damage. The die etheir got dropped or nicked somehow.

Die damage. These two seem to go the full depth of the dies recessed design rim. Thanks, Doug.

They don't move. I figured the side of the die got dinged or something. Def something I hadn't seen before.

Die dents as mentioned. All correct was die damage. So it looks like all have the correct answer. If the die is dropped on a corner of another die, I makes an indent on the die face. The rim forms near the dent and you see what we have here.
