09 (butterfly among stalks) or 02 (are those quail?), but all of the last four are pretty nice.

I like 08 and 09, but the latter has a very nice simplicity to it that would be the best in my opinion.

02. I'm afraid the other depictions of the birds will look like they have a hole in the neck.

Looks like 9 is the winner and will be what the coin looks like.

#11 in my opinion depicts the most relative image of a grassland prairie.

Quote: Looks like 9 is the winner and will be what the coin looks like. I am okay with that. It is not another bird.

I would prefer #1,#8,or #11.#9 is the least representative of a prairie IMO. Quote: Alpha2814:09 (butterfly among stalks) or 02 (are those quail?), but all of the last four are pretty nice. They are a "prairie chicken". A native bird to the prairie mainly in the eastern part of the state. The "hole" that you see at the side of the head is actually a sac that inflates, like a balloon, when courting the female.

As a resident Kansan, I love the simplicity of no. 10. Nothing says prairie like switch grass, which is everywhere in our great state.
