Think you are in reference to the two side Magician's coin. They are usually made by milling out the inside of one coin leaving the rim, them placing/gluing a cut down side to fit in the open space. Look for a seam around one of the sides right next to the rim, may need a magnifier to see it. If that's what you meant.

If you are asking about the edge appearance not corresponding in orientation between the coins, that is normal because it is caused when the coin blank was punched and the orientation may be different when the coin was struck. I hope that makes sense.

I can understand why Crazyb0 thought " Magician's coin" right off the bat; I did too from the initial explanation/description. Thanks for helping out with the photos, spruett. That helps clear things up.

These look like two normal quarters and I agree with spruett. This is typical for business-strike quarters.
