Hmm, would suggest folks stay away until they resolve this, this seems like an easy way to get yourself hacked by a sleeper, the User beware! effect.

Did you/anyone contact them about this? I poked around a few US coins and didn't see anything like it so it might be limited to a few coins.

In any case, better to let them know -- it's not like they monitor these boards and their own monitoring system may not have been triggered by the attack.

Don't they get the data from Numismaster? Anyone checked the source?

I sent a note to NGC through their Contact page (now that I'm in front of a machine where I could do the research). We'll see what happens...

This website has never seemed to be well-maintained. Kind of buggy.

Has it been hacked or is it simply glitched?

Now I think it is just a prank. But the page still hasn't been fixed. Like I said, it's not well-maintained.

A glitch wouldn't produce such specific text. Someone placed that text there intentionally (which would suggest a hack, either in NGC's database or their source's) or unintentionally (a rather unusual copy/paste error, or using an incorrect ID/reference).

That it's still there this morning is no great surprise. The problem does not appear to be throughout the Price Guide, only for some coins. I contacted them regarding the example shown in the OP after 5pm Pacific time, almost certainly after business hours anywhere in the US. Identifying/fixing the problem would take some time, even for dedicated engineers, and especially if the problem is in source data not controlled by NGC. Also keep in mind that running the website is probably not done by NGC themselves, but rather contracted to someone else, adding to the resolution time.

All we can do now is be patient, or maybe give them a nudge in a few days. Better if someone else do it so the problem looks worse being reported by multiple people. As I said, it will take some time and the website isn't NGC's primary business/responsibility.
