I have this pretty cool 1957 D LWC with multiple errors. I know about the BIE (not really an error), and the Retained Cud but I'm not sure about the separation on the left wheat ear if its considered doubling or normal. Definitely 2x2 worthy as its a really cool cent to have. Insight on the left wheat ear please!

Ya know, I have seen that somewhere but my brain ain't bringing it up when, where, why and how fully. There is no DDR listed ANYWHERE for the 57D, and the 57P doesn't indicate that split. It is a design anomaly for sure, I'm leaning more to a slight Grease Fill at that tiny crevasse in the die. Ahh, I bet its a reverse die marker for a 57D RPM, I've looked at a whole bunch lately for progressive die breaks of the obverse sides.

Others are called RIDB's retained Interior Die breaks, formed within a die crack. Cuds are rim breaks.

You have a retained Die Cud. The raised areas are part if a void, from the Retained Cud movement, leaving a void, not formed on the coin. Nice find.

Nice coin / find, Jim0815 !

This also happens to be a very good example of a main reason why I just recently joined this community: I still have a really tough go getting my head around things like die breaks with retained chips and the like.. I've spent a good deal of time on Coop's site the last few months, he shamefully confesses..
