to CCF. Can you crop it closer and tell us what it says on it?

I worked on this. I could be completely wrong here.
What I think I can see is the word PLATED and a pair of entwined flowers at the base on one side and nothing on the back of the other.
My initial guess is it may have something to do with silver plated flatware or a tea set or something like a vase or bowl and not a coin or token at all. Like a little medallion that may have been attached under a vase maybe? Just a guess.

Welcome to the CCF!
The pros here would need some really good, well cropped pics of that one. From what I can see I'll bet that one is identifiable with them. I think I can make out "STATES"? . and maybe a shield? Really hard to tell.

Best of luck and enjoy the Forum!

Edit: Nice pics and Hmmpf.

I agree with TNG
Pretty sure it's not a coin or token.
Tried enhancing it a bit and it definitely
says "PLATED" on the top and some sort of vine
or flower design on the bottom.
With the reverse being blank, it was probably
some sort of a marker that was stuck on something.

watching metal detecting shows, when they find something coin-like, and it says "plated" they say this is some sort of button. there may be a visible spot in the center of this that may be larger where the loop was.

I'd agree a button, or perhaps part of one. Some old buttons were made in two or even three parts.
