Last night there was an interesting sale of coppers that were collected by Robert S. Carter Jr., a collector from Portland Oregon. The seller stated that the coins were collected during the 1960s through the 1980s. Some of the lots came with flip inserts from named auctions that dated as far back as 1957. This coin came with Mr. Carter's envelope with his Del Bland notations. I watched with interest, but did not end up purchasing this coin.

I thought this was one of the nicer ones. The collector appears to have attributed it as Newcomb-3. Thoughts on grade and problems? I will post the grade assigned by Mr. Carter in 48.

Cool provenance on that one. I agree with AU50 as a TPG grade.
