Hi again :)

I found this BU plus half in a bank roll the other
day and thought, nice coin except for that deep scratch on
the neck (obv.) looking closer I noticed it seemed odd. Very smooth
edges along the length but it is indented into the surface. Thought post mint type damage but now not so sure. I looked at some random pics. of other kenns. the same year and noticed a few (not all) had a similar line on them. Coincidence or is this common on this yr. ?
I know die cracks are raised but what would cause an indentation like this if not post mint damage ?
Thank's

Very common on a well struck coin. It is part of the design. They modified the dies when they went to single squeeze technology with respect to making dies. I don't remember what year they changed on the Kennedys but they all look like that on coins that are struck with fresh dies.

Thanks. Interesting. The coin just jumped right out
when I opened the roll (not literally:) Especially when it was mixed in with a bunch of slot coins and other junk. Had such a nice luster
and even slight mirrors with a hint of blue tint. Think i'll keep it.
Only things probably keeping it from MS 66 are too many bag marks
and a couple light dings etc.
