colonialjohn Pillar of the Community United States 1757 Posts	Posted 05/01/2018 10:22 am Its an interesting piece - most contemporary circulating counterfeits I have seen are of German Silver. I have seen only (3) all German Silver. As a previous post comment has indicated this appears to be silver plated as the photo suggest surface peeling and note the green? overtones. Numismat Pillar of the Community United States 1674 Posts	Posted 05/02/2018 02:54 am My impression is that it's a genuine coin with environmental issues due to being used in a hot/humid environment. Really not uncommon to see brown and green crud forming on the surface of these coins. Also, what visible remnants there are of the host coin are a perfect match to a peninsular Spain 2 reales of this year, as far as shape and style. If it were a CCC I'd expect some differences.
