This coin weighs exactly 2.5 grams like the 1993-D Lincoln Cent. It also has a "D" mintmark? Any idea why the details are larger than a normal 1993-D Lincoln Cent and color grey? What do you think1993-D-Lincoln-Cent?-What-Is-This? 1993-D-Lincoln-Cent?-What-Is-This?

Let me make sure I understand. It looks as if the coin itself is larger instead of just the details on the coin being larger. Is this correct?

I have the same question as pyrbob. What is the diameter of the coin? Is it the same? If so, have you actually taken a pair of calipers and measured something on each to compare sizes? Maybe the "C" in cent. See if they are in fact the same height? If the diameter is actually larger, all bets are off, and the experts will have to chime in.

If the diameter is the same, my guess is optical illusion with the color differences making something appear larger. Maybe it's much easier to see in hand, but when I concentrate on just one letter compared to the shiny cent, I have a hard time actually seeing a difference in size. Maybe it's the fact that the gray coin is more worn, or in essence flattened out a bit and is making it look larger due to not having as much depth perception.

Maybe it was heated and run through some kind of press....

This appears to be a de-plated " Texas Cent". The coin was expanded by using some compressive or percussive technique, possibly hammering it through hard leather. For some reason, most Texas cents I encounter have had the plating stripped off.

I know it can't be genuine because proportional expansion of the design on both faces is impossible.

Thanks guys. Mike, I have a 1941 "Texas Penny". This one just looked different. I will also add this. The edge is "split" almost like 2 rims. I am 100% sure it is a "joke" coin but just found it to be interesting. I can't explain the color? The surface of the coin feels like micro fine sandpaper. Tights24, the diameter of this Cent is larger than the actual Cent. The picture is almost exact in comparison. What blows me away is the incredible accuracy when it comes to details of Lincoln and devices under a loupe! I have spent hours studying this and it is exact. Also, coin is not perfectly round like a normal Cent.
