Just sharing.
So just won 3 BU rolls of 1958 D Jefferson nickels. I checked the sellers other listings as I do every time I purchase rolls to see if they are selling any errors or varieties this seller had none except a cent that was damaged saying it was a major die gouge and all. no high grade singles either last time I purchased a roll from someone I had a roll of 50 cents with 50 rpms. So wish me luck and I will update when I receive and start my search. I'm only looking for the few that VV has and the DDR but I can't see the doubling on the site so I doubt I can in hand.

Those are the old type tubes with the cap that just fits over the tubes , no threads on the cap .
This might be a good indication that the Nickels are original and tubed in the late 50's .

Good luck! I'm excited to see what you find.
T-BOP, I'm sure it is a good indicator. Were they really using plastic tubes in 1958?

I'd keep an eye out for full steps as well. See one with weak or no steps. Also weak devices under it. Maybe Struck Through Grease or didn't fully form for another reason. The area is opposite the bust. Thanks, Doug.

Ok got the rolls nickels look nice the roll they have poured out in picture was put into a screw cap tube. But I was able to go through them no major rpms a bunch of minor ones and a few 3/4 die cracks I found what I thought to be a D/D/D/D But I haven't found anything online about it. No full steps either. But here's the problem I have run into. The other 2 tubes caps were stuck I was able to get the caps off but the coins are stuck how do I get them out aaaaahhhhh
Rest in Peace

I had a feeling that was going to happen to you . I would gently tap and roll them out at a 45 degree angle . It's a painstaking slow process but it works , one coin at a time .

I read others suggest warming the tube with a hairdryer. Not so much to melt the tube.

Another option is seal in an air tight bag and warm it in hot water. I won't go into freezer options unless needed. Thanks, Doug.

Did it heat up enough then cool down? Thanks, Doug.

Follow-up I removed the video as I didn't want anyone to think I suggest using an open flame. Was only trying to illustrate how materials expand and contract due to a change in temperature.
