Earlier I asked how to fix a problem with posting payment through PayPal using a 10% coupon.

UPDATE: So an hour and half later I finally got the issue resolved. After holding forever and a day, the first lady I spoke with talked to her supervisor and then told me, "I'm sorry, but PayPal has decided not to authorize that coupon." I was like huh. "What? ebay sent me this coupon and I made a purchase based on that. There is absolutely NOTHING, even in the fine print, that says anything about you having to authorize it." She paused and said, "Well, sir. You'll have to take that up with ebay." At this point my ears are turning red. "You are a subsidiary of ebay, which basically means they OWN you. They sent me this coupon with a valid redemption code and told me I must pay through PayPal. Tell me how it is you are not legally obligate to honor it." The she still refused. "Let me talk with your supervisor." Here's my favorite part. "OK, sir. Hang on." CLICK... dial tone.

Call back. On hold again. The second lady said, "That code should work. Have you tried paying directly through PayPal?" So we tried, same thing. And error message. "Sir, my supervisor said to clear the cache on your computer, restart and then try again." That wasn't it. "Ma'am, it's not my computer. I tried it at work earlier today on a completely different computer." So she tells me, "Well sir, that's what my supervisor said to do." OK... "TELL YOUR SUPERVISOR IT'S NOT THE DANG COMPUTER!".... I spent so much time with her I started to grow a beard. She offered to "Email me instructions" and everything. So, "Let me talk to YOUR supervisor, and please write down my phone number in case I get disconnected." Sounds reasonable, right? "Sir, we're not a allowed to do that." Me: "What? Your company has a policy against calling back a customer if you hang up on them?"..... "yes"

Ok, so the next higher echelon picks up the line. She sounds very cheerful and calms me down a bit. "Are you a supervisor? I asked for a supervisor." I told her what happened. She says, "Did the women you spoke to have an accent?" Yep. "Well, I'm not a supervisor but I am above them." She then transfered me to a different guy who handles coupon claims.

We finally got it fixed. But I was darn near about to throw my computer through the window. My story above isn't even the HALF of it, but I can only write so much.

But at least I now have this lovely 1864 with L Cent

I'm just glad you got to use your coupon. On the internet there are coupon redmption codes all over that are floating around and people who try to use them (when they haven't been sent by email) have stories like yours, but I adn't ever heard about someone getting a legit coupon and having to go through all this. I'm amazed you didn't yell at them and call them things we can't repeat here !
Rest in Peace

Let me just say, WOW
Over the past year I have received many coupons and offers through ebay,
and I haven't had a single problem with them! I'm sorry to hear your problem. My first was a thank you coupon for 15% off for hitting 50 feed back, then a 10% off for no reason, then a $50.00 coupon for future purchase (no shipping and handling) and the most recent a $75.00 coupon as a sorry you had a bad ebay experience, and that one included shipping and handling!

Have you tried "live help" on ebay? It's an in-house chat program and a little annoying but answers most questions in a live response format. Perhaps if you voiced your problem there you might get the problem resolved, or at least a better understanding of the problem.

What's the worst that can happen? Maybe you'll get another coupon!!
