So I I haven't ever seen this before and I've gone through a lot of sense now seeing this some can probably have at least 40 1972 and none of them look like this so I'm wondering what's going on here it looks like a 7 with a tail?

I see what you mean. It kind of looks like a Z? It's prob just PMD. Another coin or something hit it at the exact angle that it flattened the middle of the 2 and made the bend in the top straighten out to look like a 7 with the base of a 2. That's just my opinion but is the middle part flattened out a little or distorted more than the top and base?

On the 1972 on the date, the '2' is higher. So it may have taken a hit on the melon? Then again, the glare maybe hiding the top of the '2'.
