I'm gonna be a bad boy and not post any pictures because I know the ID of the coin (and haven't taken pictures yet). I am uploading new entries for Lorraine into Numista, and I am looking for a Boudeau catalog reference, if it is listed there, for this coin. I purchased it via ebay some time ago, and was able to ID it from a less common reference (de Saulcy).

Lorraine, Duke Francois I (1544-1545), 1/2 gros. 1.29 g.
Obverse has coat of arms of Lorraine; reverse is downward pointing sword.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Would a Roberts reference help?

Sure. I don't think de Saulcy is commonly used, so I am just looking for a reference that users of Numista are more likely to find helpful.

AM also curious if any level of rarity is assigned.

Ok looks to me like you are talking about Roberts #9441 (although it is listed as a Sol rather than a 1/2 Gros).

Thank you. When I get a photo, I'll add it to this thread. I'd be surprised if anyone else out here has one, though the same type from his predecessor, Antoine is very common (at any time you can find at least a half dozen for sale on ebay).

I just noticed cgb has one listed as Bd. 1519: https://www.cgb.fr/lorraine-duche-d...56_49,a.html
I don't know why that didn't pop up when I searched recently.

Anyhow, here are photos of mine. Apparently legends on this type are quite variable (mine is slightly different both obv and reverse from the cgb example, as well as from the two spelled out in de Saulcy).
