Nice! Did you get them from a bank?

That would be a fun find. For only two dollars I think they are worth keeping. I would probably put them in a clear tube and set them aside.

nice score on that roll But I'm curious as to why most of whom have posted thinks he payed $2 for them other than $2 being on the roll because the op never stated what he paid for them. Or are we just assuming that he got them from his bank?

Good question. I think I misread the OP and assumed too much.

to the CCF. I'll be the contrarian here ... in the spirit of education and sharing from my experience base. Based on my extensive nickel roll searching this is the most common date of all pre-1960 Jefferson ... and will never be worth more than 5 cents a coin unless in mid-MS with truly 5 full steps. Even then it will take a TPG certification to convince the collecting public ... If you believe any of your found roll coins qualify in that regard ... mid-MS with truly 5 full steps ... well, then congratulations indeed. Otherwise ... these are a common date readily available by the hundreds of millions and accessible to anyone who chooses to search 5 nickel rolls. Do indeed appreciate your sharing of the full roll find ... I would indeed enjoy it as well ... simply want all of to remain calibrated on 'find excitement' versus numismatic value. David

Quote: Or are we just assuming that he got them from his bank? Because he/she said so themselves ... you need to get past the grammar and spelling ... but here is the OP statement on origin of the roll: Quote:Yeah I got them citizens. I got a couple war and pre War Nickels at the same time but they were in differnt rolls and they are kinda beet up.

To me these are just spenders. Why lug them around with zero upside potential?

For some perspective: Over the years, I've found dozens of AU/AU+/MS 1959D (and other dates/mm) nickels. Sometimes by the roll...sometimes comingled with other dates/mms. Since I'm building a roll collection of Jefferson nickels, I can appreciate those odd events when you get a full roll of uncirculated coins. But as others have pointed out, not a ton in value keeping the excess. And there lies my problem: separation anxiety. In the end, I keep the very best for myself and use the extras for trade with other collectors. Space is not much of an issue...and since these coins are found at face, not too costly to keep in bulk. If the cost of keeping adversely affected the funds to CRH...I might feel differently and dump the excess. Comes down to what you like to keep, reasons/justification to do so, and benefit.
