We often shake our head in amazement how some photos are so good that it is almost like looking at the real coin on your screen.

Here is a link to an excellent tip without having to buy expensive professional equipment to obtain very good results.

Have a read

Here are two photos taken this afternoon using the techniques advocated in the link.

Great article Lim. I am a total novice and avoid posting photo's for that reason. I have the right equipment and I should have added practicing photo's of coins as one of my collecting goals for the New Year! Thanks, Mike

Would love to see one and possibly get one....don't laugh, I have gold coins from quite a lot of countries but not even one from the US.....a matter I must correct this year.

Here are the rest of the Krugs that made up that 1983 set.

Thanks a lot for the article.

I use a 10 litre water container. You will need to experiment with lighting. I use three small halogen lights and it works perfectly for me...

1983 was the last year that they made gold 1 and 2 rands as well.

The Krugerrands introduced in 1980 had taken over the mantle of SA's gold coins.

The old 1 and 2 rands were equivalent to Imperial Sovereigns and Halfs in size and weight.
