Hey Guys, I don't know what the substance is on the reverse but there is another thin spot on the far right end of the building. What's the technical name for this thinly plated nickel? Thanks

Nickels aren't plated. PSD environmental damage?

Nickels are made out of cupronickel, so they are not plated. Are you referring to the orange stains on the coin? If so, they're PMD.

The "technical" name? How 'bout schmutz? Seriously though, it looks to me like staining due to environmental exposure or transfer from some other object that was rusting on top of your nickel.
