The bow tie area is showing that the die was over polished, thus those devices are thinner on that area. (note lapel is also thinned by the date area. Probaby a strong clash happened and the area near the bow tie area was touched up thinning that area) I don't see zinc rot, it looks like the plating is/has thinned on the neck.
