Hello
I am interested in acquiring bundles (100 bills) of foreign currency (asia, africa, persia etc). Is there a way to buy bundles that close to the exchange rates?

ebay is obscene for bundles fyi

@calmbud, I would think that you would need someone in the country to pick up bundles for you at a local bank. You have to eliminate some of the middlemen to avoid paying ebay prices.

You will need a contact in those countries. You cannot walk into a bank and ask for bundles of new currency. They have to be ordered. There are street vendors in some South East Asian countries which sell bundles but there is a premium to face value.

Develop some contacts in countries of interest, then go with them. You'll pay a premium to someone, no matter what, nothing is free. I wouldn't walk in the Central Bank and wait in line or haggle over condition with some teller without reward, so expect to pay me to do that on your behalf. Don't send money to anyone without your goods in your hands, first. No exceptions, including their pleasant nature and All-American smile.

Having said all that, do decide what and why your interests are what they are. Anyone can buy stacks of cheap notes and he'll have the same stacks of cheap notes everyone else has, too.

You're better off with complete series or just the couple of medium- to high-denomination notes. You can buy the low stuff for a dollar today and a dollar in 15 years, as well.

Africa and Asia seem to be fine, but do your homework. Avoid South America as a continent, and countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh, and especially post-1979 Iran. Buy no Iraq, regardless of what anyone tells you. The Iraqi Dinar canard has been around since 1920, and milked a lot of people. Once cheap, always cheap.

Be very aware that the people who sell bundles of cheap notes know you better than you think, and you are putty in their hands.

I am new to CCF but is there an opportunity for trading (bundles/coins/etc) with CCF members that live in far away countries?
