Phoenicia, Tyre AE 21 Civic issue, time of Augustus Veiled turreted bust of Tyche right, palm-frond behind Galley sailing left, date ΡΚΓ (civic date 123; 3 BC); ΙΕΡΑΣ BMC Phoenicia 252 to 267. Seems to be a relatively scarce or rare issue; I can't find many in auction archives, unless this type typically does not sell individually? This was the only one I was able to find on acsearch: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=250747 There is one more on Wildwinds. I'm increasingly tempted to keep this one for the collection I'm going to solicit some opinions over at FORVM... I am increasingly perplexed at what appears to be diacritic marks above the epsilon and sigma in the legend... well before such symbols were supposed to be in use on coinage. I can't find similar marks on other bronzes from Tyre. Also, the monogram is TYP, for Tyre. Report this Post to the Staff
