I haven't soaked coins in oil in about 40 years . Stick with the Verdi-Care for best results .

Do not use plastic containers for soaking, but use glass instead.

I took the 1814 out of the Verdicare earlier this week. Followed that up with an acetone bath. Then I put a very light coat of Verdicare on each side followed by 24 hours of drying time. This is the final result and is probably the best this coin will get. There are a couple spots that are not visible in the pictures where raw copper peeks through. Considering making it a pocket piece.
