1982 Lincoln Cent Weight Error

I know that the 1982 no mint mark weight is 3.1 grams, but I have this one weight 2.54 is this a weight error and does it give it any value

Nope, not an error at all. 2.5 grams means that your coin is Copper plated over a Zinc core. 3.1 grams means it's Copper. Your coin is worth face value.

You're very welcome. Back in 1982, they still had some Copper Planchet left over from 1981, so they were using all of them up that year. They were also using a new composition, which was Zinc Planchets with Copper plating.

Look for a 1982 D small date that weighs 3.11grams and you might have a rare coin. 1983 is another year for searching for copper 3.11s
