Hello -

I've been toying with the idea of a circulated (VF/EF) date/mm set of Buffalo/Indian Head Nickels for a loooooong time. Problem is (and this may seem silly), I can't get past the fact that current Dansco albums have a spot in them for the 1918/17 overdate (and if I'm not mistaken, a 1937 3-leg). These are not going to be in my budget for the set, the 1918/17 especially, and empty spots don't quite work with my OCD...:)

Anyone know if older Dansco albums left those spots out? All of my other sets are in Dansco albums, so I want to keep consistent. I thought about getting a replica overdate & 3-Legged, but to me that would look out of place since I'll be attempting to match the grade/look. I'm almost to the point of skipping the date/mm set and just going for a year set or short set (34-38), which still leaves the album problem (maybe I'd go with a Capitol Plastics holder).

Sorry for the long post. Has anyone else experienced this kind of angst? Any and all suggestions would be most appreciated....Thanks!!

You can get a blank Dansco binder and add two blank nickel pages. You wont have the gold lettering on the binder or date/mint information though. You can also call Dansco and order a custom album, but the price might be more than what you are willing to pay.

I have a six-page Dansco binder with Two Cent pages, two nickel pages, and two dime pages; this houses the IHC, Buffalo, and Mercury sets that I am building. Not having the printed information has not bothered me.

Thanks for the suggestion jbuck. The blank Dansco/blank nickel pages makes a lot of sense whether I go for the full set or year set.

The blank page idea is OK. Whitman has the same thing. They also sell press on Gold letters/numbers for those typ of blank pages.
Another suggestion is to just put another nickel there just to fill the space. Or if your really inventive, take a photo of a normal Buffalo nickel and if you know how to use photo programs like photoshop, you could modify the photo to look like any coin you wanted. Then size the photo, print it, cut it out and place in that space in the album. If you could find a replica or fake one of each for a decent price, that too would help complete the set.
