I bought this 1871 Half Dime on ebay the other day for $31. Not sure if the toning is natural but does look to have a lot of detail regardless!

AU-58. You got it for a give away price. I would look the coin over closely to see if there is any damage we are not seeing in these photos.

Toning looks very nice. Try to have a lamp on facing to the coin, these pics aren't enough to judge surface quality. Looks at least AU58

At least high AU, might even be MS, but can't tell with these photos. Great buy!

Update on this coin. Submitted it to ICG and it was graded MS-63 PL. It looks like it was the 1st 1871 Half Dime to be graded PL by ICG. Still trying to take a picture that can pick up on the luster!

I think its in the AU58 range also. your photos of the coin do not exhibit surfaces indicating PL. most of the photos are showing a dull surface which could indicate an old cleaning that had stripped off some of the original luster. if it was I dont think it would affect the grade. unless you can get better pics this is one you need to look at closely in hand at the surfaces
