I am unsure if the reverse is toned or if it has residue from sitting on disintegrating foam for 40 years. I have posted this coin before on the grading forum, so forgive the repetition, but I do have better pictures now.

Would you give this coin an acetone bath?

I am leaning towards leaving it alone, but wanted to hear from the board.

MINT_MARQ-Well, usually acetone won't hurt silver coins, but I'm just not that sure that this coin is suffering from PVC damage. There appears to be a bit of green grime around the lettering, but I'm not certain that acetone will really get anything off.

Make sure you rinse it after the Acetone. Remember that the Acetone will aborb miscellaneous substances and as it evaporates, that same substance will be deposited on the coin as a residue.
