I was going through a 5 lb lot of world coins and there was this beat up, hard to read, ~11mm aluminum coin. The only words I could make out without my loupe was "Half Crown" which seemed silly. After magnification it reads on the obverse: "L. CHR. LAUER'S MARK COUNTER" and the reverse reads: "IMITATION OF A HALF CROWN."

Ideas on which half crown in particular it is imitating or is it just a generic mock up?

Thanks in advance.

Look like a play coin version of the design used between 1839 and 1877. Lauer is well known for making jetons and play coins. Arguably the most commonly seen maker of such items from the 19th century.

Almost certainly a play coin. They are surprisingly hard to find.
