I have a couple Morgans that my father acquired years ago. These are stored in older cardboard coin
containers with plastic covering. I am assuming these are not ideal to store the coins and may cause PVC damage. Is there anything I can do? Or just move them into mylar flips and move on.

Thanks!

If you are talking about 2x2's, you're okay. (white cardboard squares with plastic windows). Some people prefer to use airtights.

The plastic "window" piece in most of the old cardboard 2x2s is Mylar which does not contain PVC.

Show us pictures. That will help. If the coins have a green slime color on them take them out and buy new plastic 2x2 flips to put them in. If they do have green on them take a qtip in acetone and gently wipe the coin to remove the pvc residue.

There are only a couple that look like the pictures. This is the worst looking one.
