I know it would probably be cheaper or at least easier to go buy a new one but I'm a little tight on cash. I just bought about $10 face value of quarters for a little less than 10 times face, some of which are in xf-high au condition. I have one of the plastic quarter containers but it's full of black tarnish, I'm just looking for a good way to clean it up since none of these new coins have hardly any tarnish, at least not badly tarnished. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, dish soap, hot water and a tooth brush isn't cutting it. You can even see the rivets from the old coins through the plastic. Thanks for reading, every google search has just talked about cleaning silver jewelry or flatware.

Would it be possible to get a picture of what you're referring to?

Sounds like OP has a plastic coin tube that's a little "cruddy" & can see the lines from the reeding on the plastic from previous coins? Stop by a bank & get a free quarter wrapper or two until a "fresh" coin tube can be acquired is my suggestion. Residual from anything harsher than soap & water will do more harm than good.

It doesn't seem to be letting me post in a reply on this phone but it's just a tube that holds 40 quarters full of silver sulfide

I'm with ratman's idea. Stop by your bank and I'm sure they'd give you a couple of wrappers to tide you over until funds permit. If there is tarnish in the old tube I wouldn't be comfortable putting anything in it personally.
