Numismatic Student,

Can you update the images of the 77CC quarter after acetone bath?

Whenever I see streaks like that I think it was in a cardboard 2x2 flip with a rubber band across it to keep a stack of coins secure.

I'll have to dig out an old pic of a Hawaiian quarter I found like that with the rubber band around a stack, and edit later at home.

The coin has some problems and I would have passed it.

No luster seems to me that it was at least dipped.

I don't think that streak on obv will be removed by an acetone bath.

Let us know how it turns out.

These are images after an acetone bath and verdicare. The treatments did not remove the obverse streaks. Coin shows full uninterrupted luster on both sides, but it is not super shiny. It also acquired a slightly yellowish tint after vc. Agree that it may end up in a details stained holder.

Definitely looks genuine and Mint State. The price seems fair given the stains would likely give it a UNC Details grade. It's an $800 coin w/o the staining.

Thanks for the follow up post. I was hoping that you would get lucky with the CC date and remove the stains with acetone or Verdicare.

Thanks for the update.
The price wasn't too bad for the condition.
REV looks very purdy!
