I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what I'm looking at or if this is just a fluke? I'm pretty new to the coin community and can't find any other examples of these 1984 D dimes I found.
@hunterr, first welcome to CCF. Second, it looks to me like both of your coins have been damaged. Specifically, it looks like the left one spent time on a belt sander or perhaps the edge was filed down. The right dime has more honest wear and tear, but has picked up an interesting coloration. Maybe it was painted grey or light blue at one time, but could also be exposure to a chemical or the environment. However this stuff was done, both of these dimes are only worth face value.
