Hmmmmm, reeding on a CENT!?
Highly likely it was done Post-Mint.
Can't be from a Dime collar; a CENT planchet wouldn't fit.
And Quarter collars would be too large and the strike would look considerably different.
The surface damage, particularly on the reverse, screams "vise".
Bottom line: Someone was trying to create a rarity.

The parallel scratches on the reverse look spaced the same as the reeding. Either someone tried to create an 'error' or this went through some sort of a machine maybe? Either way PMD.

The biggest clue it is fake? The missing plating on the edge of the coin. A sure sign of an altered coin.
