Hey all,

I have a 1896 pretty much BU (but not quite) Morgan silver dollar. What would the market value be for something like this.. I will be taking it, along with some other coins to a local coin appraiser (NGC member) to find out its definite grade. I am unable to supply pics at the moment.

If it is a '96-p, that is a very common date even in bu pristine condition, you might get $20-25 or 1.2-1.4 face value per ounce silver. This is what I was looking at the last show I was at.
On the other hand if you have an O or S mint that is a different story, that could be several hundred dollars and then you can start haggling between a mid AU to high AU, if you said it was not quite BU

No mintmark means it came from the Philly mint and the market value will be around $20.

Bilbo's Link chart shows it'd need to be in the AU 58 - MS 60 (highest grade listed or second from the highest) to get $30.00.

Can you post a picture of it up ?........maybe the grade could be accurately determined and an appropiate price value affixed to it then ?
