I found this in a OBW BU bankroll of 2018 LSC's from a bank box of U.S. Pennies. This is an very unusual one as it looks like Post Strike Damage, but I know it isn't, because it came out of the roll like this. Is it struck on a Damaged Planchet? The Zinc core has been exposed a little bit. Any help will be very highly appreciated.

That is very interesting... I want to say it's a die break or a Feeder Finger Damage. But I couldn't tell you. I will email mike diamond and see what he thinks about it.

That is a strange cent E&V
I would expect to see more zinc if it was PSD ( I don't see any zinc), so I agree it was damaged before the strike, cool find

Thank you Coppergold and Tunnioc for the comments! I appreciate it and it's very helpful. This was pulled from a truly OBW BU bankroll of 2018 LSC's. I've been currently searching an ebay bank box (bought it on ebay) for any error or varieties. This was a very nice and unexpected surprise, as I wasn't finding anything too major, except for a couple of minor Struck Through errors.

Struck through debris, a small piece had been on edge of planchet in collar but fell off, why edge is rough there. Remember, the bust is now the down side(anvil die) and this is squeezed tech.

My first thought was struck through debris. But it looks folded from the bottom of the L to the bottom of the bust. I'm no expert but I have a few struck thorough debris cent and they all show one hallmark, parts of the debris is raised on all of them. Your cent is not showing that.

Thank you 11997755, Jim, and da Swampster for your input! My mind is still wondering on what error this is. This is definitely not Post Strike Damage since it came out of the roll like this. I'm going to PM Mike Diamond, so I can get his input on it.

Hey there e&v. Mike Diamond replied and said that he suspects that it's a case of cracked copper plating.

Crazyb0 -- Don't the new presses squeeze on the vertical vs horizontal..?

Jim0815 -- No debris retained on planchet.. Ergo no high spots.. See: Crazyb0 post above..

Coppergold -- I agree with Mike, mostly.. I believe he's overlooked the causation though.. See: Crazyb0 post above..

Swampster, I think that is what I was eluding to in my assessment. I wasn't seeing debris.

Coppergold, thank you very much for your feedback and the update from Mike Diamond! I agree with Mike Diamond as you can see that the Copper plating is cracked on the surface. Also, thank you da Swampster for your feedback as well!

I have a question. Would this be considered Pre-Strike Damage then?
