That is very interesting because it appears that it may be part of a Spanish colonial 8 reales coin or something similar.

What are its dimensions and how much does it weigh?

That shield doesn't look very Spanish to me. Scotland?

(Not that I could find a good match for Scotland either. Some very similar types yet, actual match no.)

EDIT: no, probably not Scotland, this coin's lion has a sword in his paw, and I don't think the Scottish one does.

My current guess is Spanish Netherlands. Looking through Numista to see if it makes sense...

I believe that the cross on the reverse is a Saint Julian or Missionary Cross. The Lion with it's sword in one hand and arrows in the other looks to me to be Dutch. As previously mentioned, Spanish Netherlands seem to me to be a logical origin, but I could not find a match. Good luck, sorry I couldn't find a ID for you.

Thanks all for your help. I believe it is Spanish Netherlands. It weighs 7.3 grams and is approximately 2cm in diameter. Any suggestions about who to talk to about finding an id would be great. Thanks.
