Wish I could help. But I would like to welcome you to the Coin Community Family! I'm guessing you're onto something with Thailand though.

That is not a coin but an Indian Temple Token. I don't have the literature to identify the vintage or the type but these are still being made. New ones are silver plated, I believe.

Hello and welcome.

It is, as stated above, an Indian "temple token", of a design usually called a "Ramatanka" - "tanka" being "coin" and "Rama" being the deity prominently depicted on both sides. They have been made for at least a hundred years, perhaps longer; older ones can be made of silver, though most modern ones are cheap plated-brass.

Despite being called "temple" tokens, it is my understanding that these objects are more usually used in at-home rites and rituals within Hinduism, rather than in "temples". They are also often found quite badly stained and disfigured, as one of the rituals involves smearing a spiced food paste on the coin, in an act of offering to the gods.

Dealers who actually know what they are usually sell them for a few dollars each. That's about what it would cost you in the street markets of India.
