Love these 100% print error notes, I find they are under valued and they look cool. This caught my eye also, missing SN's. Is this rare... Ghost ink smear. Is this rare.... looks cool on the blue five. 1954 solid SN, wow. To bad margins are off. Listing says 63 grade no indication on paper quality. These notes I love and would love to add to my collection, especially drawn to to $10 and the $5. They are all in 60 plus grade but no indication of paper quality. I assume they are not original,EPQ or PPQ or they would have stated it. One of the notes is graded by CCCS, anyone know what terms they use to grade paper quality... I find this auction site is a great platform, but why do they not show the backs of notes.... Let me know your thoughts and which note you would like...

Nice one TheBurnz. The rarer French version also. My Dad used to have an English version but don't know what happened to it after he died.

Wow, did you check all the books in the house. Stating bid on this one is 11k. I hope you find it.

Solids are great (BUT everyone collects them). Makes for steep bidding (& over my head).
-My favourite is the French 1935 $25 but the soiling would make me want to inspect it before bidding. If it's original then definitely a "trophy" note.
The 2 offset printing errors are cool too (but as I will always maintain: they will attract a lot of new collectors who could drive bids far too high). They're very rare in that condition as is the missing serial number 1973 $1.00
The Journey doesn't look like a "Ghost note" to me (should be missing Laurier for that) but rather a partial offset printing error unless there's something I'm missing.

Quote: Ghost ink smear. Is this rare.... looks cool on the blue five I have to agree that I don't see this as a ghost note Once I get the opportunity I will post one I have that is known as a wet trap error Although not listed in the Charlton catalogue I found it in a new sealed BOC brick of fives It also has a cancellation mark that was put on by QC at the printers but for some reason was not removed from the brick as it should have been I personally only know of two other such errors One on a five and one on a hundred note In the meantime if anyone has ever seen or heard of another One I would be interested to hear about it

Laurier seems to be freaked out in my opinion he thinks that five is a ghost.

What do you guys think of these items. Canada's unofficial paper money. These cards were used as IOU's and cashed in when colonial transports arrived with gold coins. They don't seem very pricey and they do turn up often enough. I would love to hear more about them and which ones are the more collectible ones....

First, according to 30th Ed of Charlton "after the fall of New France, the card money was redeemed at one-quarter of its face value." (p2) ...and the 3 lives were issued in 1742, 1747 & 1749 As far as Charlton's book value "all card money is very rare Estimate G-$10,000 VF-$25,000 up* UNC - $50,000+ a 24 lives card dated 1730, described as good VF in th eMay 20'6 MTM sale, sold for $32,200"I believe they're so rare that there really isn't any particular kind that is more collected than any other type. - I don't know much about card money but I have seen many online auctions of the stuff and I have never seen it go for those kind of prices (not even close). I have no idea what sale this quote is referring to. In Quebec, where it was issued (& hoarded/then exchanged at low values) I believe it had a fairly flimsy reputation -so a lot of it was burned (again- according to Charlton). My problem with it (besides the lack of "eye appeal") is the market: I would imagine it would attract a very small # of highly specialized/eclectic collectors.
