Considering that the PCGS price guide is already severely inflated, paying above it is probably not a good value.

If you are going to ask a question like that, shouldn't you at least mention what the coin is and the grade No one can give you an informed opinion based upon such vagaries and there are a few exceptions in regards to paying over PCGS guide prices

I agree that the PCGS price guide is unrealistically high. If it is in the G-4 to MS-60 range, the NumisMedia Price Guide is much more realistic (they also have prices for coins in the 60-70 range, but you have to pay to get that info). http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/fmv.shtml

it is my opinion that yes PCGS is overpriced in some areas but others you would never be able to find a coin in a specific grade for the price they list, sometimes if you can even find a coin graded by PCGS in some areas you have to pay double what PCGS lists them at and that is if you can find one. These aren't allot of the coins on the PCGS price guide but some of the type coins are that way so we would need to know what type of coin it is you are asking about before we can give any type of conclusion on if this is an appropriate price or not

Did you see what they're going for on teletrade, heritage, etc? If it's cheaper than what they've closed for then go for it, but make sure that their's a return policy encase the seller is selling a coin that is milk spotted and therefor it's not an 69 and should be worth less.

I would probably wait. Chances are that there are more than one type of that coin in the world. I'm sure that the opportunity will arise again. The only exception would be if you desperately needed the coin.

There are plenty of prior sales on ebay in the $220-230 range for this coin, in PCGS PR69 slabs. At Heritage, the going rate is between $195-205, also in PCGS slabs. $290 is a great deal for the seller.
