Is it possible to have a 1990 D over P Quarter. It doesn't seem likely but here are the pics.

D or P is impossible. The mint marks were added to the hubs starting with that year. A second thought: Look at the size of the mirage that you see. It could be a P as the mint mark P would be larger than what you see. So when marks on coins appear to be a letter/mint mark/ number, compare them in size to a real device to see if they match the same size as the normal ones. Larger/smaller ones just could happen. If the mint didn't convert mint marks from a certain year, it would be a let down to find out later that they didn't happen there/then. The 1956-D 5/5 debunked, 1956-D/S below the 19 was debunked and the 1980-D/S debunked. Why were these later understood that they didn't happen. Looking at certain coins it may appear that they happened that way. But on examination of earlier die states of the same dies, it was not hubbed in to the EDS dies. The distortion happened later in the dies life. Damage not a variety.
