I ordered this 5 oz round and I suspect it is a "second". No mention of it in advert but I got it at little over spot with free shipping. Here's the advertised stock image. I am not happy with two issues. Here's what I received. Mainly, the reverse is misaligned and the base of the obverse where arrow points looks weakly struck. I wrote the seller and will see what they can do. It came from scottsdalesilver an ebay sale directly from Scottsdale Mint. I will write them again with these images. They are probably closed for the weekend as I have not heard from them yet. There certainly isn't any added value here for an error I am sure. Would you be a tad upset if you got this in the mail? Thanks for your opinions.

It's still really cool looking. Not having it in hand and just going by the pictures I don't think I would have picked up on the errors myself.

Though I didn't purchase any, I saw this deal on ebay and was surprised at how cheap it was. Even so, I would not be happy at all with the round you received. It definitely lacks eye appeal with that weak strike and being off center, and doesn't look like a quality product. Hope they make it right.

Quote: It's still really cool looking. I probably would have noticed the misalignment even from the photos, but would have decided that it only made it cooler. The rest is hard to judge from those particular photos, which seem to show much less detail overall (probably mostly due to bad lighting, but perhaps due to some strike problems as well). Not really into fancy silver rounds, but might well have bought that one if it didn't have to cost that much money (spot for 5 oz of silver comes out to something like 5000 rubles, which is a lot more that I'm comfortable paying for any single coin). Incidentally, is it just a fantasy issue, or an actual official coin?

Now that I come back to it again I do notice the lack of apparent detail. I wonder if they added something to the coin in the marketing photo to darken the low spots to give it added ~pop~.

The images of this "fantasy" silver round that are my actual item are the lighter ones. The nice detailed ones are the images that were "Stock Photos" right from the listing. I wrote to them and sent these images. I checked the negative and neutral feedback they have received and they say they would have taken care of things free of charge or similar in the follow-up comments from others but not about this particular item.
I would imagine they will make it right. I don't like it as an error at all.
I can understand different degrees of antiqued silver finish but this one is also very weak in that regard compared to the listing. I will update this and how things work out. Let's hope I can praise Scottsdale for good customer service in the end. Yeah $97.15 for 5 troy oz. was a no brainer and at the time was just a smidge over spot plus the 10% pure silver premium one would expect on any .999 item made it worth buying. I'm not out any money ( really ) but I like some numismatic and artistic value when I buy silver too.

I'm not familiar with these but just did a search and a different bullion seller has them at 99 and change in stock- so definitely let them make it right with a replacement or refund.

Hope things work out for you, the off center strike is really distracting, eye appeal is everything for these type of items.

As with any item, numismatic, exonumic, or otherwise - If you aren't happy when you receive it you'll be even more unhappy later, regardless of the reason why.

Glad it wasn't just me and my OCD and others generally agree. I am optimistic that things will work out. It's the weekend, I bet I'll hear from them sometime tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's input.

Well, Scottsdale will not agree with me that this is not "normal". They stand by it being within specs and say Quote: There is intentional variation in centering on the strike to add to the rough "relic" feeling of this particular item. Every coin in the Egyptian Relic Series is meant to have the look and feel of an ancient artifact that was pulled out of the ground at an archeological site. I can return for an exchange at the expense of Scottsdale but they say it would be basically the same situation. So I am going to keep it as it is just about spot anyway. I got it on sale and it is worth that much to me. No more Egyptian Relic Series rounds for me!

Irregardless, at least it's a cool looking round. Bummer their advertising photos are misleading.
